Be A Winner With YOUR Newsletter

Putting out a newsletter is like getting into a regular exercise program; you know you should, but it’s just so easy to put it off! You’ll find that once you make the commitment, it’s easy to find a convenient, cost effective method of producing your newsletter.

Why spend money on a newsletter?

The best reason to send out a newsletter is because it’s good for your members! Most people are looking for services that will benefit them personally, and what better way is there to reach most of your members than with a newsletter. It can keep members up to date on credit union products and services while providing an informative “soft-sell”. Newsletters are the single most effective way to establish and maintain a relationship with a targeted audience!

Especially in the case of newer members, some may not be using particular products or services. The newsletter will deliver beneficial information, but if it’s followed-up periodically with other promotions and product information, your members are more likely to think of the credit union when they are ready to make financial decisions. As they learn to trust the credit union, members are also more likely to share the benefits of credit union membership with friends, family and colleagues.

What should be included in a newsletter?

Newsletters are vehicles of information, lifelines of communication and resources of….NEWS! Your member will read your newsletter to be informed, educated and possibly even entertained. It’s not enough to give them two (or more) pages stuffed with boring type with detailed information. You must present information to your readers using different design techniques, photos, graphics and creative copy!

Be sure to include articles containing something of interest or value that will help meet members’ individual financial needs. Provide practical articles that educate members regarding consumer issues. Focus on services that will increase activity in the credit union (online banking, for instance) or promote convenience (ATM or debit card, checking accounts, online bill pay). Consider using the newsletter as a training tool by detailing a service, new product or change to a current process.

The Dilemma

Depending on financial and human resources, there are newsletter options for most credit unions. Even if you have the financial resources to publish your own newsletter, often finding staff time to write articles (or at the very least, pull them together from other sources), laying them out, finding graphics and sending it to the printer in a timely fashion can be difficult, and often gets pushed off until the last minute or simply doesn’t happen at all.

The Solution

Our recommendation is to let CU ink make your job easier! Our full-service newsletter program takes the worry and hassle out of the credit union. We’ll provide season appropriate articles from which to choose, assist with writing your copy or use copy you provide to us. We then complete your layout with modern and eye-catching graphics, and, once approved by you or your staff, coordinate printing, folding and shipping. We even send you a reminder when it’s time to get started and guide you through the entire process, freeing you up to do more important work.

Choose a two or four-page newsletter printed in one, two or full color. Include your publication in your periodic statement mailing or mailing them directly to your members for more attention. Whether you produce a newsletter monthly, quarterly, or not at all, CU ink is a convenient cost-effective way to communicate with your members.

Why not take advantage of the valuable marketing opportunity of a credit union newsletter. To find out more about generic and custom newsletter programs available from CU ink, contact Sue Smiley or Celeste Nadeau for information and pricing.
